Sailing Barge Lady Jean


Living accommodation:
The Lady Jean has 9 berths, 3 separate heads (hand operated) and a full size enamel bath.
The kitchen includes an oil fired cooking range which also provides hot water for washing and partial central heating. There is plumbing for a washing machine. There is a 15ft.x4ft.solid pine dining table (1.5 ins. thick) and a large log stove in the saloon.
There is both 240v mains circuit and 24v dc circuit.
The Lady Jean also has:A Kelvin 6 cyl. diesel engine ( 120 hp ) with a hydraulic anchor windlass and an inboard diesel 24v generator.
A Honda fire / salvage pump (petrol) and a Robin generator (petrol).
A 14 ft clinker barge boat (row or sail) and a 9ft rubber dinghy plus a Suzuki 4hp outboard.
A Garmin GPS 126, Raytheon Pathfinder colour chart plotter and radar.
Simrad RD68 VHF radio


The Lady Jean was built in 1926 by Short Bros Ltd in Rochester.

Her measurements are 27.8m long by 6.6m wide with a draught of 1.5m.
She is wooden hulled and is mulie -rigged with a full suit of sails (not bent on at present
)

She is ready to sail, was surveyed in a dry dock in Dec 2006, and is currently afloat in a berth at Hythe Quay, Maldon.

She has made regular trips to France and taken part in the Tall Ships races for several years.

She is being sold following Iden Wickings death in February.
