SAILORMAN: This is a unique film narrated by Michael Horden, privately financed but professionally produced in 1975 by barge enthusiasts who wished to record "live" the images and voices of local skippers and their vessels before they were finally lost forever. The result is a fascinating historic record of the lives and opinions (not always polite) of those who actually earned their living carrying cargoes in these vessels. The existence of the film came to our attention by a chance meeting by one of our committee members with one of the people actively involved in its making, and now the copyright holder, who kindly gave permission for its showing in aid of the fund raising efforts of The Friends of Messing Church.
