S.B. REPERTOR
THE THAMES SAILING BARGE
was the workhorse of coastal transport until well into the 20th century. Barges are still sailing today as a supreme example of our working maritime heritage. The highly efficient spritsail rig allows up to 4,000 square feet of sail to be handled by only 2 crew - although more hands are welcome!. The flat bottom and lifting leeboards make accessible the remotest of creeks and backwaters; whilst the great topsail provides manoevreability in the most landlocked havens.
S.B. REPERTOR
S.B. Repertor was the first iron barge built by Horlocks,
the famous bargemasters of Mistley in Essex, in 1924.
"Repertor" means - discoverer, explorer, inventor, innovator, deviser - in Latin.
Sail with us and help us live up to her name
- discover the skills of traditional working sail;
explore the rivers, creeks and backwaters of the East Coast, North Kent, and the Thames Estuary;
or sail up-river; through Tower Bridge to the heart of the City;
or hold functions in an unusual but memorable venue.
CRUISING Join us for daytrips, weekends or longer cruises under sail, in a friendly atmosphere.
You can join in and learn the traditional skills - or just relax and watch how it's done.
Repertor's usual bases are Maldon, in Essex, with its historic working waterfront, and Faversham, in Kent, with its medieval town-centre, brewery, creeks and marshes. Both are ideally situated for cruising the barge's traditional sailing areas.
We can also berth in London for functions and daytrips; the Solent for Cowes Week; or the Continent for Festivals of the Sea.

RACING There are 9 Sailing Barge Matches - or races - during the summer season, each in traditional barging locations, typically with 10-20 barges taking part - a magnificient sight!
Repertor is usually a keen competitor and was Champion Barge in 1983, 1999 and 2000. Imagine leading the fleet, driving up to windward, in a Force 4 or 5 under full sail - join us for one of the Matches!
CHARTERS & FUNCTION
Under sail, we take up to 12 passengers - as individual bookings or group charters.
For quayside functions - business entertainment, exhibitions, product launches, meetings, seminars etc; and for private parties - we can take up to 50 guests.
