BARGE
MATCHES 2001
These races are,
for the crews, the highlight of the sailing season, and provide the
sight of up to 20 barges sailing together in friendly but serious competition.
The day starts with an early breakfast while the crew discuss the course
and tactics.
The start is always very exciting with these large vessels being manoeuvred
in close quarters, trying to gain the best position. A camera is vital!
The barges anchor together after the race, with crew and passengers
sitting on deck, reliving the near wins and misses. Refreshments are
provided on board, and then it's ashore for the prizegiving.
