SAILING FROM IPSWICH The rivers Orwell and Stour are two of the most beautiful on the East Coast, their relatively high banks graced with large country houses and with plenty of interest to see on any cruise whether short or long. Starting from Ipswich Dock, once Europe's largest grain terminal and home to a large fleet of sailing barges, we go past the Old Custom House, the new quayside developments and Tolly Cobbold Brewery before entering the new lock gates to lock out of the dock and into the river. Once under the Orwell Bridge, we sail past Woolverstone and Pin Mill, one of the most painted places on the East Coast, and then out towards Harwich harbour and Felixstowe. On longer trips we head up the Stour towards Wrabness and Mistley before returning to the Dock.
