Enjoy a sedate sail from Whitstable Harbour around the Thames Estuary Forts, or cruise down to Margate past the end of Herne Bay Pier, see Reculver towers, or you could take a leisurely cruise up the River Swale and under Kings Ferry bridge. Wind and Tide permitting - the choice is yours. We can also sail from Chatham, Rochester or Queenborough.
A typical day on board GRETA starts 30 minutes before departure with a welcome coffee and a brief talk about the barge and safety aboard. Slipping our mooring we set out for the day's sailing. Once the sails are set and the engine stopped a new calm atmosphere envelopes the barge and its occupants. Peace and quiet replaces the stress and strain of every day life. Places of interest are pointed out by the crew.
Lunch may be taken at anchor or underway, (if any of your friends are of a musical ilk encourage them to bring instruments along and have a sing along). Drifting along with a guitar strumming and gentle voices mingling makes an idyllic afternoon. You can just lie back and doze, wake up eat and drink and doze again, you can be involved by helping with the sails, winding the anchor or leeboards, always good as a team building exercise! Passenger involvement in the sailing is at the discretion of the Skipper. There is no obligation to participate, the choice is yours.
After a days sailing which is to a certain extent influenced by wind and tide we return to the mooring. We moor up and disembark at leisure, many people find it difficult to drag themselves away after a day of pure relaxation. A meal booked at a near by restaurant or pub could finish your day off to perfection.
