SOUTHEND ON SEA SAILING BARGE MATCH 2009

Information for participating barges

HW 0730 hrs.

Planned start times:

Class C (Slow Staysail) 10:30
Class B (Championship Staysail) 10:45
Class C (Bowsprit) 11:00

The pre-match briefing for skippers will take place
Friday 29th August at 7pm on board S.B. ADIEU at the end of the pier.
N.B. The pier will close, and the last train ashore will be at 8pm. Crews will need to be aboard by this time.

The prize giving and buffet supper will be from 1900 at the Alexandra Yacht Club, bar open from 1300.
Buffet tickets are £6.00 - please order in advance to assist with catering arrangements.
There will be a raffle, and donations of raffle prizes will be welcome.

The first train on Saturday morning will be 8:30, and then at half hourly intervals until the normal pier opening time.
After the prize giving, extra trains after 2000, have been arranged to take people to the shore at 2230 and midnight only.

In case of emergency out of normal pier hours, skippers should ring 999 and ask for the coastguard.

We are grateful to the staff of Southend Borough Council and Southend Pier for the specail arrangements for access to the pier, and the provision of extra train services, which make it possible for us to hold the race, and allow the public to watch from the end of the pier.
